Day 1:
Car Rental: Rented a car through Avis. Everything was on time and well-organized.
Accommodation: Drove to Puerto de la Cruz and stayed at Hotel Puerto Palace. The hotel is not new but has a great location, spacious rooms, an excellent pool, and a superb breakfast. Dinner was decent.
Day 2:
La Orotava: After breakfast, we drove to La Orotava, a charming town with beautiful gardens. Spent a few hours there and then returned to the hotel pool. In the evening, we visited Santa Cruz for a stroll around the city.
Day 3:
Loro Park: Amazing! A must-visit. We bought a combined ticket with Siam Park. Watched all the animal shows scheduled at specific times, then explored the park. Returned very tired and went to Centro Commercial La Villa mall in the evening, but didn’t find any bargains.
Day 4:
Garachico: Visited Garachico. The main attraction is the Lago Martinez pools, a very beautiful place. Swimming was not an option due to the cold and rough sea. Be prepared for waves; bring a change of clothes. Returned to the hotel pool.
Day 5:
Check-Out and Drive South: Checked out of the hotel and headed south for the second part of the trip. Planned to visit La Laguna, but parking was impossible, so we skipped it. Stopped at Porís de Abona lighthouse for photos.
Accommodation: Arrived at Regency Country Club, Apartments Suites near Playa de las Américas. Not great, wouldn’t recommend it.
Evening Walk: Kids enjoyed the pool, then we took a walk along the Playa de las Américas promenade. Nice, but nothing special.
Day 6:
Siam Park: Incredible!!! Amazing slides and spotless cleanliness. Bought fast tickets (28 Euros each) for the kids and one adult (the slider 😊), totally worth it.
Note: The park officially opens at 10:00, but you can arrive earlier to grab a good spot and buy fast tickets as they are limited. Stayed until the park closed at 18:00.
Day 7:
Mount Teide: The drive was stunning, and the place is simply beautiful. Took the cable car to the top, but the kids had headaches, so we descended quickly. Made several photo stops, as the place is unique and worth a visit. Those prone to motion sickness should take medication as the road is challenging. Stopped at Siam Mall on the way back (no great bargains there either).
Evening: Visited the promenade of Las Sebastián. Lots of restaurants, pleasant and beautiful place. Parking is available near the pier.
Day 8:
Karting: Morning karting session. The children’s track (up to age 15) is small but nice. The adult track is more serious, and everyone enjoyed it.
Los Gigantes: Drove to Los Gigantes. Impressive view despite poor visibility.
Costa Adeje: Kids dipped in the water, but the weather was unpleasant, so we continued walking. Very nice promenade with many restaurants.
Day 9:
Free Day: Spent the day in Playa de las Américas, completing souvenir shopping for the kids. Evening stroll and dinner in Las Sebastián again.
Day 10 (Last Day):
Return North: Left the hotel early and drove north (no flights from the south). Visited La Laguna, a beautiful town. Had lunch and headed to the airport. The flight from Tenerife was on time, and the flight from Madrid was slightly delayed, giving us two hours to transfer.
Weather Note: The weather is quite variable despite being considered warm season. Most of the time it was cloudy and cool, making it difficult to enjoy the beaches. Mornings and evenings required long sleeves.
