Tenerife Autumn 2024 – Trip Summary – Family (Parents and Children aged 18, 15, 12)
Day 1:
layover was sufficient (we took only carry-ons).
Car Rental: Picked up a Skoda Kodiaq from Budget. Excellent choice, very spacious.
Accommodation: Stayed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife at Cal Vacation – a fantastic apartment in the city center.
Day 2:
Anaga Park: Drove to Anaga Park and hiked a 6 km circular trail.
Taganana Village: Visited Taganana village and had lunch with local dishes at Guachinche Bibi y Mana.
Beach: Ended the day at the beautiful Las Teresitas beach.
Day 3:
Santa Cruz Market: Visited the market in Santa Cruz – fruits, pastries, handicrafts. Highly recommended (arrive around 9 AM or earlier to avoid crowds).
Botanical Garden: Visited the botanical garden in Puerto de la Cruz. Lovely garden.
Garachico Village: Explored Garachico village and its natural pools. Had a great lunch at Casa La Agrarian.
Los Gigantes: Drove a scenic route to Los Gigantes. Stayed at Ona el Marques Hotel with breakfast and a pool. A large Lidl supermarket is nearby.
Day 4:
Boat Tour: Took a boat trip with Flipper Uno – saw dolphins and whales. An amazing experience, including a dip in the ocean with views of the giant cliffs. Highly recommended.
Day 5:
Mount Teide: Woke up early and drove to Mount Teide. Took a pre-booked cable car ride. Continued to the summit (booked entry 3 months in advance due to daily visitor limits). The climb was challenging due to thin air, but the summit and views were incredible.
Accommodation: Continued to a resort in the south – Wyndham Residences Golf de Sur. Highly recommended.
Evening Walk: Took a relaxing evening stroll along the promenade of Los Abrigos.
Day 6:
Relaxation: Relaxed by the hotel pool and rested.
Dinner and Stargazing: Had an early dinner at a good Italian restaurant – Parma, then went stargazing with SkyNight Tenerife. The skies are stunning with no light pollution. The guide was in British English; some enjoyed it, others preferred without. Alternatively, you can drive independently to Mount Teide and stop where there is no light pollution to enjoy star-filled skies.
Day 7:
Siam Park: An amazing experience for water park enthusiasts.
Day 8:
Natural Pools and Beach: Swam in the natural pools in Los Abrigos and visited the nearby quiet beach La Tejita, located near the Red Rock Mountain.
Day 9:
La Laguna: Drove to La Laguna. On the way, shopped at Primark and Sephora in Santa Cruz.
Exploration: Explored the colorful and lively streets of La Laguna.
Accommodation: Stayed at La Laguna Treasure, a central apartment.
Day 10:
Return Car and Flight: Returned the car at the northern airport and flew to Barcelona.
Accommodation: Stayed in a central apartment in Barcelona, near Plaza Catalunya.
